New Zealand Work Visa - Procedure and Fee Details

New Zealand is considered a dynamic country with cultural beauty, scenic views, a quality lifestyle, better work opportunities, and the safest environment (as it became a corona-free country). All these make this country a perfect place for your immigration dreams. If you are planning to move to New Zealand to live and work, then you will need a work visa to do so. In this post, we will shed some light on the different aspects related to the New Zealand work visa.

Who Needs a Work Visa?

You can apply for a temporary work visa here if you:

  • Have a job opportunity or offer from an employer of New Zealand
  • Are coming to New Zealand for a particular work-related event or purpose
  • Have a business partner or friend in New Zealand to join them and work
  • Are coming from a nation that has a special work scheme, or
  • Have been studying in New Zealand university and want to join a company here

Some New Zealand work visas can also lead to the residence and that is, the right to settle down, study, or work here indefinitely. To apply for the same, you will need the necessary qualifications, experience, skills, knowledge, and expertise suitable for the workforce.

Choose the Right Work Visa

Currently, there are over 80 types of visas that allow you to work in the country. However, before you move forward, you must choose the right visa type keeping your profile in mind.

Before You Apply for a Work Visa

You will need to collect details about your immigration plans while in New Zealand. What you will need to provide completely depends on the type of visa you want to apply for. For all work visas, you will have to provide the authorities with proof of your good character and identity. Additionally, details related to your health will also be needed. Many visas require you to find a suitable job in the country first, so for details, you must connect with us.

Provide Authorities with Documents Proving Your Good Character and Identity

To apply for a work visa in New Zealand, you will need to provide the following to prove your identity as well as a good character:

  • Recently clicked and acceptable visa photograph
  • Character and identify documents

Depending on the visa type you are applying for and how long you are willing to stay in New Zealand, you will need to provide police with relevant documents and certificates from the nation (s) you have lived for above 5 years since you completed 17 years of age. These documents will help you prove that you are of good character. However, you must keep in mind that the character certificates are less than 6 months old while submitting your work visa application. Moreover, submit the English translated copies of the same if they are in other languages.

Collect Your Medical Records and Certificates

Depending on where you are coming from and how long you are going to stay in the country, you will need to provide the authorities with medical certificates or get the chest x-ray from the doctor or hospital approved by the Immigration New Zealand or INZ.

English Translation of Documents

As we have mentioned earlier, you will need to submit the translated documents in English i.e. police certificates or medical records if they are in other languages. Apart from these, INZ can ask you to provide other documents in English if they are not translated. However, this work should only be done by:

  • The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) of New Zealand
  • The high commission or embassy
  • An official or private translation business

You must understand that this cannot be done by:

  • You, if you are a person who is applying for a work visa
  • A friend or family member
  • An immigration consultant assisting you with your visa application
