BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP)

BC PNP is one of the most diverse Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada. British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is an immigration program that nominates a broad range of workers, graduates and entrepreneurs/ businessmen to settle in the province permanently. The program offers nomination certificate to the foreign nationals to apply for Canadian permanent residence. They need to be skilled and experienced in order to submit the applications under different streams of the BC PNP.

Major Immigration Categories for BC PNP

The immigration streams under BC PNP are:

  • Skills immigration (including Express Entry System)
  • Entrepreneur immigration

These streams are further divided into different sub-categories to make the immigration process more specific.

Skills Immigration

This stream is composed of a number of categories to allow skilled and experienced professionals from different sectors to apply for BC PNP. Each category has its own eligibility criteria and specifications.

  • Skilled Worker Category: Workers with post-secondary education and experience in a skilled occupation are eligible to apply under this sub- category. They need to have a full-time employment or job offer from a recognised BC employer.
  • Healthcare Professional Category: Individuals working as a physician, specialist, nurse or allied health professional can apply under this sub-category. They must have an eligible job offer for at least one health occupations from a recognised employer in British Columbia.
  • International Graduate Category:Individuals graduated from a recognised Canadian University or institution in the last three years are eligible to apply for BC PNP. They need to have an official job offer from an eligible employer in British Columbia.
  • International Post- Graduate Category:Students holding Masters or Doctoral Degrees from a recognised Canadian University or college are eligible to apply under this sub- category. The qualification can be in natural, applied or health sciences programs under which no official job offer is mandatory.
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category:Entry level or semi-skilled workers in tourism, hospitality, food processing or trucking sector are eligible to apply for the program. They can also be living or working in the Northeast Development Region of British Columbia.

Express Entry British Columbia

Express Entry System works with the Federal Government which significantly reduces the processing time of the applications. It fastens the application process of BC PNP and permanent residence through online immigration selection system. The candidates need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria including language proficiency and demonstrating finances to settle in the country.

The candidates under the following categories are considered eligible to apply for Express Entry pool:

  • International Post-Graduate Category

Candidate must meet all the requirements of the BC PNP Skills Immigration - Health Care Professional Category.

Entrepreneur Immigration

Individuals who have an impactful business idea to implement or is willing to purchase an already established business in British Columbia are eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residence through BC PNP. Under this stream, there are three major categories:

  • Entrepreneur Immigration Category: This category possesses a unique registration system. It is targeted to senior managers and business owners, planning to invest funds in a business operating in British Columbia.
  • Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot: Foreign nationals who are planning to establish a unique business in British Columbia are eligible to apply for BC PNP under this category.
  • Strategic Projects category:This category is specifically meant for international companies (operating outside of Canada) and planning to set up an operation in British Columbia. For permanent residence in the province, up to five key team members can be nominated through BC PNP.
